Hey Folks.
Thanks firstly to Rhodri for his comment, which i will come to in a moment, but we had the Council lady in today to pick up the forms regarding the regeneration of the street.
It certainly seems to have stirred up a great deal of opinions within the traders and residents...watch this space as things progress (or not)
As regards Rhodri's comment about Tesco causing more problems than it may solve, i agree but the street is in a catch 22 position.
Clifton Street has become a little dilapidated by the Council and to some degree i suppose by the Traders also, the difference is that the Traders do not have the vast sums of money that the Council has.
The amount of people that may return to the street if Tesco's were to appear would be beneficial, but the Butchers & Grocers would undoubtedly suffer.
Maybe it would give the Traders that are affected the incentive to "perk up" by becoming more specialised within their fields, as ultimately Tesco are good at what they do, but they cannot
be specialist stores offering advice or special orders for customers etc.
Just my opinion, but again it is certainly not dull here.
