I have decide that from now on, i'll update this page on a weekly basis, on a saturday .

LIKE BUSSES.

Isn't it weird?

We stock an item called a Tack Lifter, which is like a screwdriver but with a "V" end with which you REMOVE TACKS.

We ordered one a couple of weeks back for a lady, but before that i don't remember the last time i was asked for one.

We were asked just now for one, which sadly we did not have and whilst telling the Gentleman that we don't get much call for them, a lady walks in and asks for one as well!!!

The Gentleman is willing to wait until Tuesday, so we will order it for him, but sadly the lady needed it today.

WEIRD!!!

What will Wednesday Bring?????

In keeping with yesterdays fun, we just had one of the local Irish Tarmaccing lads in.

He asked if we had any Tarmac rakes made, which we did albeit with shorter than usual handles as we cannot get the normal length.

Cue moaning about everything to do with the Rake, which is mad by myself by hand and sells for £15....off which they make £ 1,000's (which they have admitted).

After moaning that the head wasn't straight, the bolts weren't tight enough etc.

He asks if he can borrow a pair of pliers to tighten the nuts up, i offer a set of Pincers which was all we had to hand.....

Customer: "Well fancy a hardware store having no pliers"

Me: "Well we have but they're packed and i'm not opening them to be used"

C: " For F*** sake, why not open them....mutter,mutter...."

C:" I can make these better than this, maybe i should do that eh?"

Me: *Bites Lip*

C: "Well i WAS the first person to show you how we wanted them (despite the fact we've made them for 20yr + and he would have been a kid!!!!)

ME: "I've only been making them for OVER 10yrs, i guess i wouldn't now how to make them!!!"

All the time there was a shop full of people, who because Ian was delivering Gas i had to sort out as well...as well as selling loose paraffin, which requires measuring and pouring!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DREAD TO THINK WHAT WEDNESDAY HAS IN STORE!!!!!!!!

CHEAP DOESN'T ALWAYS = BETTER.

Morning Everyone.

We've just had a regular customer come in (which is good) and buy Paraffin loose from us, we are probably THE ONLY place for miles around to sell it....

He asked how much our Sweeping brushes were....and after i told him the price his reply was

Customer:"They're half the price at the Sunday Market/Car Boot Sale....."

Me: "They don't pay rates or wages do they?"

Customer: " but they're half the price....."

Me: " Well, when we've closed because you buy your brushes there, and can't get your paraffin anywhere, then it's a problem!"

Customer: "mumbles...."

This illustrates the problem we face, with Car Boot Sales now selling NEW GOODS....we have to pay our VAT/ Rates/ Wages and these places dodge paying these things as far as i'm aware.

So not only do we have the Legitimate competition, we have this too!!

SO THINK BEFORE YOU BUY, CHEAPER ISN'T ALWAYS BEST!!!!

Happy Monday!!

The cold weather is begining to materialise, which is great news.

Also at the other end of the street, a block of empty units was recently auctioned... the rumour still persists that at least some of the units will become a new Tesco!

I think we'll have to wait and see there.

The Gas sales continue to rise which is great , we have also sold another gas heater.

The weather is a strange thing, across the road from us the sky is imposing and very dark and yet the sun is shining!
